Our History

Dakota Press staff around 1978

Dakota Press is a family-run business founded in 1946.

In 1978 Perry and Cindy Mundorff purchased Jonas Printing of Oakland, established in 1946. After building a new facility in San Leandro in 1986 they renamed their business Dakota Press. For 24 years the Mundorffs and Dakota press served the entire Bay Area with quality commercial printing.

As printing companies began closing their doors, Mari and Gary Reid, who both had extensive printing experience, took the opportunity to buy Dakota Press when Perry and Cindy decided to retire.

As the new owners, the Reids are committed to providing superior products and service to their customers through an organization that is flexible, proactive and focused on building lasting customer relationships.

Dakota Press is proud to be a Union Shop, certified as a Small Business, Women/Minority Owned and Green Business with 25 great employees, who are capable of coordinating all of their customer’s printing solutions from designer’s files to delivery.
